Raindrops & Clouds & Snow

Kathleen Xie

Raindrops

Let the raindrops fall

On my face

And cleanse

My wounds

Let the raindrops land

On my tongue

And dance

On my skin

Let the raindrops submerge

The pain

And release

The inner peace

Let the raindrops soak

Me in bliss

And bless

Me with ecstasy

Because now

I’m drenched

Drenched and free

Clouds

Swirl my mind into cotton candy

Lift my heart like a feathered swan

Flow in rhythm to my pulse at peace

Let my eyelids droop

Wandering in the wisps of white

A space is never-ending

Let me loosen every bone

And rest my hands in ease

I fall into dreams I can’t recall

They’re silky, smooth, opaque

Sifting through my thoughts at once

My head entranced in space

Let me stay here for eternity

With my eyelids closed and joyed

This is where I love to dwell:

Unseen by humans

And free

Snow

Ever so gently,

The snowflake

Descends on my palm.

How come it

When it seems like it should

Ascend towards the clouds

Glisten in the light

Rise past the sky

Disappear with the birds.

I stare at my palm.

My palm feels numb.

Let me frolic in this

Ethereal snow globe

Where my body is shivering

At last.
