Introduction to Contrast

This quarter’s theme for Tabula Rasa, Pinewood’s award-winning literary and art magazine: "Contrast."

Light and dark, love and hate, life and death. Good and evil, beauty and ugliness, order and chaos. In what ways do expectations differ from reality? How do opposite ideas negate each other or coexist as a paradox? Where do you find contrast in the world? And how can you explore the tensions between contrasting ideas, through subversion, juxtaposition, contradiction? You can play with the idea of "contrast" not only in topic, but also in the form of your pieces (e.g. a contrapuntal or diptych. Or submit a pair of works!).
